(1050 A.D- 1131 A.D) Peter the Hermit was a man that the first crusades which were also known as the People Crusades. Peter was also at Pope Urban II famous Council of Clermont in1095. He lead one of the five sections of the peoples crusades.
Q: What gave you the idea to start the people crusades which were also known as the People Crusades?
A: I was in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre when I had a vision from Jesus that said I should go and start a crusade.
Q: What did you do next?
A: I went and gathered 40,000 men and women and headed towards Constantinople but when we got there in only a month or two we had lost over 10,000 people.
Q: Where did you go from there?
A: The Eastern Roman Emperor didn't think that he could supply the large amount of people so he had ships organized to take us over to the holy lands. He was also supposed to organize guards to take us through the Turkish territory but failed to do so.
Q: What happened when you crossed?
A: We were attacked and killed by the Turks o we had to retreat back and wait for the Paupers when they arrived we went and made it to Jerusalem and took it over.
Q: What impact did this have on the future?
A: It increased trade between Europe and Asia and made Europe stronger.
