Rome Sacked/Falls to the Barbarians- KIng Aleric 5

(370 A.D- 410 A.D  This guy I interviewed was a very interesting man his name is Alaric I, he was born in what is now known as Romania in 370 and grew up there but joined the army later in his life.  With post battle rewards they moved Alaric up king where he took command.
Q: When did you go to try to take over Italy?
A: It was in 401 when we entered through northern Italy laying waste to every thing we encountered but we didn't make it to far in when we were met by Stilicho and his forced and he defeated us.
Q: What did you do after that?
A: In 408 we went back to Rome and started a siege on it not allowing food or other supplies to go in and demanded a ransom of gold, silver,
Q: You went in for a third siege though didn't you?
A: Yes we used the same technique as last time and it worked again.
Q: But your last siege was the famous one wasn't it?
A: We got in on August 24, 410 and took what we wanted but didn't do a huge amount of damage to the city.
Q: What effect did this have on today's society?
A: It was the beginning of the dark ages for Europe and a lot of things resulted from that that effected us today.
